- Yes, you may/may not see bears 🐻 (not guaranteed one way or another). No, you cannot feed them.
- Yes, there can be insects (even inside), especially during warm times of the year, and especially outdoors (cabins are in the woods). Mice happen too.
- Uber and Lyft 🚖 are spotty to non-existent (see our transportation links)
- Cell reception depends on the provider.
- Many roads are indeed wavy (because they are in the mountains, not in the Great Plains)
- Fireplaces🔥are not turned on from the end of March to mid-October, but especially in July.

Can we bring an air mattress to accommodate extra persons or kids?
No. Air mattresses are not permitted due to fire safety codes, as they can obstruct exit paths in an emergency.
Please select a property that has enough permanent beds to accommodate everyone in your group. Safety always comes first.
What games are provided in the cabin?
Game availability varies by cabin, but may include:

Why is there a cleaning fee, and what does it cover?
Our cabins are full homes, not hotel rooms. The cleaning fee covers a complete post-stay turnover, including:

Cleaning the entire cabin

Draining, cleaning, sanitizing, and refilling the hot tub

Supplying fresh linens and towels, remaking beds, and transporting used linens to a commercial laundry facility

Sanitizing bathrooms and restocking toiletries and paper products
-
Removing all trash to the county facility
This process takes several hours and is completed by our local professional cleaning teams. The fee ensures the cabin is fully prepared for incoming guests.
Where do I get firewood for the fire pit?
Firewood is not provided. Guests should purchase firewood locally. Bundles are commonly available at grocery stores such as Food City and at gas stations.

Cutting standing trees or vegetation is prohibited

When will my security deposit be released?
Per the rental agreement, we have up to 14 days to release the security deposit.

The deposit is a credit card hold, not a charge

Once cleaners inspect the cabin and report no issues, we release the hold

Your bank may take an additional 1–2 business days to restore your available credit

What are the chances of snow when we travel?
While the Smokies are not known for heavy snowfall, snow does occur occasionally during the winter months.

Do we need charcoal for the outdoor grill?
Yes. Cabins are equipped with charcoal park-style grills, but charcoal is not provided.

What if there is a power outage during our stay?
Power outages can occur due to high winds and wooded terrain.

What about wildlife? Are there bears?
Yes, wildlife is common in the area, including deer, raccoons, turkeys, coyotes, foxes, snakes, birds, and black bears.

What about critters and insects?
The cabin is located in a wooded mountain setting. Despite routine pest control, insects and small wildlife may occasionally be present indoors or outdoors.
To reduce issues:

We accept trained service dogs only, as required by Tennessee law and the ADA.

Can we use the garage?
No. The Appalachian Escape garage is reserved for owner storage. Please use the paved parking area, which accommodates up to five standard-sized vehicles.
Can we host a wedding or event at the cabin?
No. Events, weddings, receptions, and gatherings with unregistered guests are not permitted due to insurance restrictions.
What electronics are provided?

Please do not unplug or alter wiring. Lost remotes or unplugged equipment may result in charges.
Can we book for student, school, or church groups?
No. Our insurance does not permit student, school, or chaperoned group bookings. This restriction is listed on all booking platforms.
How do we pay the balance for a Vrbo booking?
Blue Mountain Cabins processes payments directly.
